First babies born with Monica

17 May 2010

In conjunction with the launch of Monica’s VS series of labour and delivery (L&D) monitors, the first babies have now been born, entirely monitored by the Monica VS15 L&D monitor.  Dr Josh Reinhard from Witten Hospital, Germany, described using Monica in L&D as “simple and rewarding to use as the women benefited greatly from the increased comfort and mobility”.

Following extensive clinical trials, the Monica AN24 and Monica VS series of L&D monitors have been granted approval for use during labour and delivery.  During this critical period it is essential to have a reliable and accurate CTG trace.  Monica provides this through the direct electrophysiological measurement of fetal heart rate (fECG), maternal heat rate (ECG) and uterine activity (EHG).  In addition Monica provides benefits to both the midwives and birthing women:  No repositioning or adjustment of transducers during the labour, minimal MHR/FHR confusion, no belts and wireless operation, offering both comfort and freedom of movement.

As more hospitals start using their Monica devices in L&D we look forward to receiving further positive experiences from midwives, doctors and mothers.
