Monica VR
Monica VR is the Monica AN24™ management and database programme. Monica VR software is designed to accompany the Monica AN24™ fetal-maternal monitor and runs on a PC or Monica VR monitor enabling the user to:
- configure the Monica AN24™ device
- store data collected using the AN24™
- download data from the AN24™ in real-time (via Bluetooth®) or retrospectively (via USB)
- view, analyse and print reports of the data collected by the AN24™
The Monica VR software is designed to interface with the Monica AN24™ fetal/monitor and operates in one of two modes, specifically:
- Real-Time wireless AN24™ monitoring (Mode 1)
- Retrospective download of patient data stored on the AN24™ (Mode 2)
Both the real-time and downloaded recordings are held in a database (under the patient ID and name) from which patient records of FHR, MHR, UA, maternal movement and clinical events can be recalled and reviewed at any time. Moreover, the user is able to print out all, or a section of, the selected record in a standard ‘CTG’ format.
In addition the Monica VR provides
- Easy to use, graphical user interface (suitable for touch-screen's e.g. the VR Monitor)
- Ability to monitor up to four mothers at a time from only one PC using Bluetooth®
- On-screen FHR Analysis Table*
- Decision Support Indicator*
- Bluetooth status indicator
- Annotate / Comment directly onto the trace (Real-Time or Retrospectively)
- Printed reports including a summary report, FHR Analysis Table* and CTG traces

Example of the Monica VR program display. An overnight monitoring session has been uploaded and stored (mode 2). The FHR (blue), MHR (green), Uterine Activity (black) and Maternal Movement (orange) from this monitoring episode can then be easily selected and viewed at any time as shown below. The Monica VR program includes a number of display options and tools for printing and analysing the FHR.
FHR analysis(pending validation)* as shown on the Monica VR display where the base line, periods of high (black line above FHR trace) and low variability (black line below FHR trace), accelerations(cyan line) and decelerations(orange line) are marked so that users can confirm the accuracy of the analysis.

The Trend display showing 7.5hrs of FHR, MHR, Uterine Activity and Maternal Movement data (user can 'zoom' in to show more detail). An area of interest can then be selected, as shown, for closer examination.

The Analysis Table displays the summarised FHR data for each time period (epoch). The Analysis table also shows if the FHR analysis criteria (decision support)* has been met for that epoch (Met) or not (Not Met). If the criteria selected has not been met for any epoch an asterisk (*) will mark the parameter(s) outside of the criteria.
The Monica VR provides a number of user defined print options, below is a summary report, analysis table and standard aspect ratio print out (same appearance and size as a CTG trace obtained from a conventional fetal monitor recorder).
