Monica AN24 - Three Operating Modes

Mode 1: Retrospective Mode

Image showing pregnant women sleeping whilst being monitored by the Monica AN24 monitor

Retrospective (USB download). Here the device is operating as a recorder where the FHR, MHR, Maternal activity are extracted in real time and stored. One recording session can be up to 16hrs or longer. This stored data is then uploaded to a PC running the Monica VR program where it can be stored, displayed, analysed and reports generated. This program is included with the Monica AN24.

Mode 2: Real-Time Mode

Wireless (Bluetooth™) real-time FHR/MHR/UA viewing. Here the device is operating as a conventional 'fetal monitor' where the real time FHR, MHR, Maternal activity and event signals are sent via Bluetooth, using the industry standard series 50 protocol. The data can then be displayed:

  • On an installed central station (Bluetooth to serial converter required - not supplied), or
  • On a Bluetooth enabled PC running the Monica VR software (a Bluetooth dongle and the Monica VR program are included with the Monica AN24), or
  • Via a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone for real-time data transmission from remote locations (this will require a 'partner'; in Germany and other countries we are working with Trium: www.trium.de and using their Internet based remote monitoring home solution).

Both operating modes 1 and 2 are for normal clinical use.

Mode 3: Research

Research Mode. (Retrospective); where the FHR, MHR, Maternal activity and the 'raw' abdominal electrophysiological signals are recorded. This mode is an option (additional cost) and requires an IP/Collaboration agreement between Monica Healthcare and the Hospital/University. The 'raw' data can be uploaded, displayed, analysed and reports generated using the Monica Development Kit software. This program has an additional cost and gives access to the fetal ECG waveform and true beat-to-beat fetal and maternal heart rates as well as many other research features.
